About the Role

This position is for recent RN graduates or those with less than one year of RN experience. New Grad RNs work under a licensed RN until their license can be verified. In conjunction with working on this unit, New Grad RNs attend Intermountain’s one-year nurse residency program, which supports their transition from classroom to caregiver through webinars, simulations, case studies, and in-person meetings.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a recognized and accredited Nursing/RN education program (education will be verified).
  • Current RN License in state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for healthcare providers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • RNs with less than 12 months of working experience as an RN prior to joining Intermountain must obtain their BSN within five years of their start date.

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors requiring clear verbal communication, hearing, and understanding of spoken information, alarms, and needs, particularly during emergencies.
  • Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment, including frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing information, and medication preparation.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment, including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining/distributing supplies and equipment, including pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment.
  • Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (e.g., full of equipment, power cords on the floor).
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle, which includes sitting, seeing, and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

Pay

New Grad RN Entry Pay: $32.27 per hour

RN Entry Pay: $35.22 per hour

Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
