New Grad RN Residency - Medical Surgical
About the role
The HCA Healthcare Residency Program at LewisGale Hospital Pulaski provides a year-long paid program to assist with the transition from a student nurse to a registered nurse. This program includes advanced clinical training, monthly educational sessions, preceptorship training, hands-on simulations, mentoring, and evidence-based practice projects.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient condition during admission and each shift as scheduled, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s).
- Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Administer prescribed medications.
- Monitor patient for therapeutic response and notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication.
- Respond promptly to patient requests and strive to anticipate and resolve their needs proactively.
- Teach patients, families, and caregivers about their medical condition, treatment plan, medications, and possible side effects, and provide follow-up measures.
- Translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
Qualifications
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
- Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse in the State.
- No previous experience needed.
- Some travel may be needed for training.

Pay and Schedule
The typical hourly wage range for this position is $29.39 - $44.09 per hour. The exact pay may vary based on factors such as specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
