New Grad RN - Nurse Resident
About the Role
We are hiring New Graduate Registered Nurses (RNs) at Essentia Health - Fargo. This role is designed for new graduates with less than one year of RN nursing experience. As a New Grad RN, you will be part of our Nurse Residency Program, a yearlong professional development program that coincides with your role on the unit where you are hired.
The Nurse Residency Program is a structured, evidence-based experience focusing on professional nursing practice concepts. It is designed to assist new nursing graduates as they transition into their first professional nursing role.
Responsibilities
- Lead Patient Care: Organize and deliver comprehensive care by managing all phases of the patient care process, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Guide and Delegate: Act as a team leader by delegating care responsibilities to nursing staff based on their licensure, training, and role specifications.
- Contribute to a Greater Mission: Play a crucial role in advancing the facility’s and Essentia’s mission and goals, making a meaningful impact on the community.
- Ensure Compliance: Adhere to the standards set by the Joint Commission and other relevant federal, state, and local regulatory or accrediting agencies.
Qualifications
Must meet one of the following requirements:
- Registered Nursing student currently enrolled in an accredited Nursing Program.
- Current or upcoming graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
- Beginning first RN position with Essentia Health within one year of graduation.
Licensure/Certification
- Current nursing licensure in the state of employment upon date of hire.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within one month of hire.
Nurse Residency Program Outcomes
At the conclusion of the Nurse Residency program, nurses will:
- Transition from novice nurse toward a competent professional nurse in a clinical environment.
- Develop effective clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrate clinical nursing leadership skills at the point of care.
- Feel a strengthened commitment to nursing clinical practice at the point of care.
- Demonstrate the ability to incorporate research and evidence-based practice into care and link it to practice and patient outcomes.
- Demonstrate a stronger commitment to nursing as a profession.
Transition to Practice Support
- Comprehensive assistance to help you smoothly integrate into your nursing role and build confidence in your new position.
- NCLEX Study Support: Resources and guidance to aid in preparing for and passing the NCLEX exam.
- Nurse Residency Program Enrollment: Structured residency program with mentorship, advanced training, and ongoing professional development.

Schedule
- 72 hours per pay period.
- Every second or third weekend.
- Rotating 12-hour shifts:
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
- Overnight Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
- Weekends and holidays required.
- No call obligation.
Pay
Compensation Range: $38.22 - $57.33 per hour.
