About the Role

As a Resident I Graduate Nurse in the HCA Healthcare Residency Program at Lakeview Hospital, you will participate in a year-long, paid program designed to transition you from student nurse to registered nurse. The program provides hands-on experience, advanced clinical training, and a supportive community of nurse educators, experienced nurses, and fellow residents to help you develop valuable clinical and critical thinking skills.

The RN Resident coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with department-specific requirements and state/specialty scope and standards. Using established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage," you will collaborate with medical providers and the care team to provide individualized, compassionate care while serving as a patient and family advocate.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition during admission and each scheduled shift, reporting any changes in status.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, and other functions as ordered by medical providers.
• Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for therapeutic response.
• Notify providers and intervene as needed in the event of unintended medication responses.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and proactively anticipate and address patient needs.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow-up measures using clear, non-technical language.
• Participate in advanced clinical training, monthly educational sessions, preceptorship, hands-on simulations, and an evidence-based practice project.
• Engage in mentoring opportunities with experienced nurse leaders.

Requirements

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within 1 year of employment.
• Additional certifications may be required during employment.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
• Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse status in the state of employment.
• No previous experience required.
• Some travel may be needed for training.
