About the role
The HCA Healthcare Residency Program at HCA Florida Aventura Hospital provides a year-long, paid program designed to help future nurses transition from students to registered nurses. This program includes advanced clinical training, monthly educational sessions, preceptorship training, and mentoring from experienced nurse leaders.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient condition during admission and each shift as scheduled, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s).
- Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient for therapeutic response.
- Notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication.
- Respond promptly to patient requests and strive to anticipate and resolve their needs proactively.
- Teach patients, families, and caregivers about patient medical conditions, status, treatment plans, medications, and possible side effects, and provide follow-up measures.
- Translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
Qualifications
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
- Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse in the State.
- No previous experience needed.
- Some travel may be needed for training.
Skills
Strong communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care are essential.
