About the role

The HCA Healthcare Residency Program at Mission Hospital equips you with the tools to succeed in today’s hospital environment. This paid program includes:

The RN Resident coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care tailored to the department’s specific requirements and aligned with state and specialty scope and standards. Working with medical providers and the care team, you’ll provide individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” As an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, you’ll help ensure an unparalleled patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition during admission and at the start of each scheduled shift, reporting any changes in status
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers
• Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient for therapeutic response
• Notify provider and intervene as needed in the event of an unintended medication response
• Respond promptly to patient requests and proactively anticipate and address patient needs
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, status, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow-up measures
• Translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding

Requirements

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within 1 year of employment
• Additional certifications may be required during employment
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program
• Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse status in the state
• No previous experience required
• Some travel may be needed for training
