New Grad Nurse Residency

About the Role

The HCA Nurse Residency Program at Medical City Weatherford is a year-long, paid program designed to help new graduate nurses transition from the classroom to professional practice. The program provides hands-on experience, advanced clinical training in a specialty area, and support through preceptorship, mentoring, and collaborative projects.

As an RN Resident, you will coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with departmental and state standards. You will work within the "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage" nursing model, serving as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition during admission and each scheduled shift, reporting changes in status.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, and other functions as ordered by medical providers.
• Document care administration in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Administer prescribed medications, monitor therapeutic response, and intervene in case of unintended reactions.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and proactively anticipate patient needs.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care, translating complex medical terminology for clarity.
• Participate in monthly educational sessions, hands-on simulations, and an evidence-based practice project.
• Collaborate with medical providers and care team members to provide individualized, compassionate care.

Requirements

• Less than 6 months of nursing RN experience by the start date to qualify for the residency program.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification to be obtained within 1 year of employment.
• Other certifications may be required during employment.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse Permit in the state.
• Some travel may be needed for training.
