Benefits: Health insurancePaid time offVision insurance401(k)401(k) matchingDental insurance New Account Specialist I Employment Type: Full-Time or Part-Time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Schedule: Monday–Friday, with some Saturdays; flexible schedule typically between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Position Summary Herring Bank is seeking a New Accounts Specialist I to provide exceptional customer service while supporting the day-to-day operations of the branch. This position serves as a key point of contact for customers and assists with routine banking transactions, account openings, online banking support, and relationship-building efforts. The ideal candidate will have prior retail banking experience, strong customer service skills, and the ability to accurately perform banking transactions while maintaining compliance with operational and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Process retail and commercial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and official checks.Balance a daily cash drawer and perform vault transactions within established limits.Open and maintain consumer deposit accounts and CDs.Assist customers with online banking and bill pay, including password resets, navigation, and account access troubleshooting.Answer incoming calls professionally, remain available within the call queue, and appropriately direct customer inquiries.Greet customers promptly and provide professional, high-quality service.Identify customer needs and make appropriate referrals to bank products, services, and specialists.Perform wire transfers and stop payments and assist with ordering checks and debit cards.Support ATM and safe deposit box procedures.Follow all compliance, security, and operational procedures, including BSA/AML requirements and applicable privacy laws.Participate in branch opening and closing procedures and maintain established branch security standards.Order and maintain branch supplies and assist with general administrative responsibilities.Cross-train to support commercial account openings, community engagement initiatives, and consumer account secondary reviews.Assist with quality control procedures by developing familiarity with commercial account secondary review processes. Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.Minimum of 3 years of retail banking experience required.Proven leadership and mentoring experience within a branch setting. Skills & Competencies Strong customer service and communication skills.Proficiency in basic math and computer applications, including Microsoft Office.Strong time management and problem-solving abilities.Knowledge of banking regulations and the ability to maintain confidentiality.Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced branch environment.Must be able to successfully pass a background check. Working Conditions This position may require extended hours to meet deadlines or address urgent organizational needs. The role involves regular interaction with customers and employees and may require standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
