About the role

The Nevada State Library, Archives & Public Records seeks a Librarian 4 in the Carson City area. The Access Services and Outreach Manager ensures that the public can discover, access, and use the State Library’s collections and services. This position oversees Access Services operations and leads the library’s outreach and public engagement efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures public can discover, access, and use State Library’s collections and services.
  • Oversees Access Services operations and leads outreach and public engagement efforts.
  • Helps coordinate the full range of library services, ensuring public-facing services and behind-the-scenes operations function together effectively.
  • Serves as the library's primary professional reference lead, providing advanced reference services.
  • Coordinates the library’s public-facing web presence related to library collections and services.
  • Supports digital access to State Library collections by helping maintain digital exhibits, organizing and presenting online content, and monitoring digital materials and webpages for accessibility, broken links, and accurate public display.
  • Participates in cross-unit coordination, communicates effectively with colleagues regarding workflow needs and project status, and contributes to shared initiatives that strengthen access, discovery, and the overall user experience.

Requirements

This position requires State and Federal fingerprint-based background checks as a condition of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Library Science or a related field.
  • Experience in managing and developing collections.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate daily operations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including databases and web content management systems.
  • Knowledge of archival principles and practices.
  • Ability to assess the condition of archival materials, identify conservation concerns, and create standardized descriptive metadata and inventories based on professional standards.
  • Physical stamina to safely lift and move boxes that typically range from 20 to 50 pounds.
  • Basic computer skills to record information gathered during surveys.

Pay

Approximate Annual Salary: $70,282.08 - $104,713.20 Annually
