Position Summary

The UNC School of Medicine Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery seeks a fellowship-trained Neurotologist to join our dynamic team. This full-time faculty position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to both clinical excellence and research innovation, with a 50:50 split between patient care and research. The position is a tenure/tenure-track open rank, with academic rank determined based on experience. Clinical responsibilities include diagnosing and managing complex otologic and lateral skull base disorders, such as hearing loss, vestibular dysfunction, chronic ear disease, acoustic neuromas, and other cerebellopontine angle tumors. The successful candidate should have a strong interest in cochlear implantation and outcomes research and will contribute to ongoing research initiatives in this area. It is anticipated that the candidate will secure extramural funding to support the research component of their salary. Teaching and mentoring opportunities include working with residents, fellows, and medical students, as well as participating in multidisciplinary care teams and academic collaborations within the UNC Health system.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

• Candidates must have an M.D., D.O., or equivalent.
• Graduate of ACGME-approved Neurotology fellowship.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice medicine within the state of North Carolina.
• Board certified in Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery.
• Board eligible or board subspecialty certified in Neurotology.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

• Background in cochlear implants outcome research.
