Neuroscience Regional Director – East

About the Role
The Regional Director (RD) is a visionary leader tasked with elevating the Customer Engagement organization to a peak of excellence. This role demands an inspiring, strategic thinker who will guide their regional team in surpassing organizational goals.
Responsibilities
- Build best-in-class, diverse teams through talent acquisition, development, and succession planning.
- Deliver regional sales targets while collaborating nationally to secure achievement of organizational objectives; establish a cadence of accountability for the team, communicate and supervise KPIs, and engage all levels of performance.
- Set an example for all team members by fostering a collective vision, articulating clear expectations, cultivating accountability, empowering others, and improving processes by challenging current norms.
- Create, execute, and oversee a regional business plan focused on customer needs in partnership with Area Business Leaders and cross-functional teams to enhance customer experience and increase product demand among healthcare providers (HCPs), key accounts, and Systems of Care (SoC).
- Act as an integral part of the national leadership team, aiding in the enhancement of regional capabilities, business performance, team growth, and organizational culture.
- Ensure teams carry out duties with honesty, professionalism, and integrity, aligned with the Novartis Code of Ethics and all relevant policies.
- Promote regional budget allocation and optimize resource use, including strategic face-to-face interactions and Omni Channel resources, tailored to regional needs.
- Foster an environment where team members are motivated to voice ideas, address challenges, collaborate, experiment, and view failures as learning opportunities, while ensuring alignment with the NPC Code of Ethics.
- Support team members by crafting development plans, nurturing growth, and improving performance using analytics platforms to guide decision-making and identify risks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university.
- 10+ years of diverse commercial experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or similarly structured industries with large, geographically dispersed sales teams. Candidates from complex sales environments (e.g., medical devices, diagnostics, life sciences services, insurance, consumer health, or B2B) are also welcome, especially where strong field leadership and customer engagement are central.
- 5+ years as a first-line sales manager with strong critical thinking and enterprise attitude (e.g., brand management, market access, or account leadership experience).
- Experience managing field organizations through change, innovation, or growth.
- Demonstrated success in driving sales performance, leading cross-functional teams, and executing strategy in matrixed, multi-regional environments.
- Proven track record of attracting, developing, and retaining diverse talent, with strong cross-functional leadership abilities.
- Experience building and completing business and incentive plans in sophisticated sales environments; demonstrated operational skills, financial acumen, and strategic/analytical thinking.
- Must reside within the region or within a reasonable commuting distance to a metropolitan airport.
- Ability to travel 60-80% over a broad geography; must have a valid driver’s license.
- Driving is an essential function of this role; a fully valid and unrestricted driver’s license is required.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership as a second-line sales manager.
- Experience in cross-functional roles such as market access, reimbursement, or account management, with an understanding of payer landscapes, buy-and-bill, and specialty pharmacy.

For field roles with a dedicated training period: The individual hired will be required to complete initial training, including home study, up to 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week.
Pay
The salary for this position is expected to range between $204,400 and $379,600 per year. The final salary is determined based on relevant skills and experience and is reviewed periodically. Compensation includes a performance-based cash incentive and eligibility for annual equity awards.
