Neuroscience Account Manager - Psychiatry - Suffolk County, NY
Territory: Suffolk County, NY – Neuroscience – Psychiatry. Target city is Smithtown; candidates must live within 40 miles of territory boundaries and have access to a major airport. Territory spans Amityville to Montauk on the South Shore and Huntington to Greenport on the North Shore.
About the role
As a Neuroscience Account Manager at Lundbeck—a global biopharmaceutical company specializing in brain health—you will lead the promotion of our psychiatry portfolio to psychiatrists and institutional accounts, including community mental health centers and hospitals. You will execute sales and marketing strategies with deep clinical knowledge to drive performance in a rapidly evolving environment.
Responsibilities
- Use digital tools and data-based insights to create opportunities, develop strategy and tactics, allocate resources, monitor progress, and adjust direction to maximize sales performance.
- Deliver clear, compelling messages to customers, probe needs, handle objections, and secure commitments to drive behavioral change.
- Build and maintain productive internal and external relationships based on customer needs and organizational goals, employing “total office” account management.
- Gather and validate key market trends, map account linkages, and apply therapeutic expertise to uncover and prioritize opportunities.
- Stay informed on reimbursement dynamics and address payer access issues (IDNs, Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) using Lundbeck resources.
- Apply knowledge of the pharmaceutical and regulatory environment, adhering to Lundbeck policies, procedures, and FDA regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- 4+ years of pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, biologics, medical device, or related healthcare sales experience.
- Intellectual capacity to score highly on disease and product training exams, including annual certification.
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic and outstanding communication skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain professional relationships with key customers and office staff.
- Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
- Must live within 40 miles of territory boundaries.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing; driving is an essential duty.
- Must meet and comply with industry-standard credentialing requirements of healthcare providers and customer facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience promoting CNS/neuroscience products, including depression, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder.
- Documented successful sales performance.
- Ownership and accountability for developing and executing fully integrated account plans.
- Strong analytical background and experience using sales data reporting tools.
- Experience calling on customers at offices, community mental health centers, and hospitals.
- Sales experience with buy & bill/injectable products.
- Experience in product launches or working with alliance partners (e.g., co-promotions).
- Leadership through committees, job rotations, panels, or related activities.
Travel
Willingness and ability to travel up to 30%–40% domestically to meet with customers and internal personnel, and attend 4–8 internal/external conferences and meetings within the U.S.
Pay
Salary range for candidates in the NYC area: $135,000 – $165,000, plus eligibility for a sales incentive target of $40,500.
