About the Role

Christian Hospital has been serving St. Louis and the surrounding metro areas since 1903. The hospital is nationally ranked as “high performing” in geriatrics and in seven common procedures and conditions: heart attack, heart failure, kidney failure, diabetes, COPD, pneumonia, and stroke.

Northwest HealthCare, six miles west of Christian Hospital, offers 24-hour emergency care, a Sleep Disorders Center, and various outpatient diagnostic and imaging services. The Comprehensive Medical Rehabilitation Unit (C.M.R.U.) is an 18-bed, Joint Commission-accredited inpatient unit for adult through geriatric patients requiring intensive rehabilitation therapy, including at least two of the following: speech, occupational, and physical therapies. Diagnoses include cerebral vascular accidents (C.V.A.), complicated orthopedic problems, neurological/neuromuscular disorders, polyarthritis, amputation, spinal cord injury, multiple trauma, and traumatic brain injury.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Educates patients and their families on managing illness or injury, including post-treatment home care needs and medication administration.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participates in professional development.
• Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team, patient, family, or caregiver, in accordance with established guidelines and standards of nursing care.
• Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
• Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.

• Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate's in Nursing
• Experience: No prior experience required
• Supervisor Experience: Not required
• Licenses & Certifications: RN (Registered Nurse)

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
