Neurohospitalist

About the Role

Illinois Neurological Institute, part of OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois, is seeking a full-time inpatient Neurohospitalist to expand our team. OSF Saint Francis Medical Center is a 649-bed tertiary care referral center serving as the neurologic hub for the OSF Ministry and the main teaching hospital for neurology and neurosurgery residencies, as well as several other residencies and fellowships, in collaboration with the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria.

The Neurohospitalist will provide comprehensive management of adult neurologic patients in the acute care setting, including diagnostic and treatment decisions in the ED, thrombolytic and/or endovascular stroke treatments, and management of routine and complex inpatient neurologic conditions. Responsibilities include collaborating with multiple medical disciplines, supervising and teaching neurology residents and residents from other disciplines, participating in teleneurohospitalist rotations for virtual inpatient non-emergent neurologic care, and contributing to quality improvement measures within the neurology department and hospital.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive management of adult neurologic patients in the acute care setting.
• Make diagnostic and treatment decisions in the ED, including thrombolytic and/or endovascular stroke treatments.
• Manage routine and complex inpatient neurologic conditions.
• Collaborate with multiple medical disciplines.
• Supervise and teach neurology residents and residents from other disciplines.
• Participate in teleneurohospitalist rotations to deliver virtual inpatient non-emergent neurologic care within the system.
• Contribute to quality improvement measures within the neurology department and hospital for neurology-specific matters.

Requirements

• Physician licensed to practice medicine in the current state.
• Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and the State of Illinois to prescribe narcotics, if applicable.
• Board certified or board eligible in Neurology.
• Obtain and maintain medical staff membership and appropriate privileges.
• Eligible as a provider for Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health programs.
• Meet all qualifications to participate in OSF's programs for professional malpractice and other liability coverage.

Preferred Qualifications

• Neurohospitalist stroke experience (preferred but not mandatory).
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care aligned to the preferences, goals, and needs of the patients served.

Pay

Full-time clinical base salary pay range for this position: $314,137–450,000. Range shown should be used as an estimate and can be impacted by many factors including but not limited to the critical need of the position, overall experience and qualifications, community need, and other considerations. Additional compensation components may be applicable such as bonuses or incentives which may or may not be based on metric achievement.
