Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for and performs routine and portable EEGs.
- Perform VERs and BSERs according to AES recommended guidelines.
- Observe patients for any clinical manifestations of seizures or other events and, if necessary, take appropriate steps.
- Maintain, calibrate, and adjust equipment according to standard procedure.
- Conduct brain death studies.
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of equipment.
- Archive EEG reports to CD disc and maintain database.
Qualifications
- High School diploma required with 2 years of college-level biological science preferred or 3-5 years equivalent experience in a clinical laboratory.
- Pediatric experience preferred.
- Certification by the American Board of Registration of EEG Technologists preferred or board-eligible.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR in adult, child & infant is required.
- Trainees must achieve EEG Certification within 2 years of employment.
About the role
Accountable for performing standard and complex electroneurophysiology diagnostic procedures under minimum supervisory direction of lead technologist or department manager/supervisor.
