Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for and performs routine and portable EEGs.
  • Perform VERs and BSERs according to AES recommended guidelines.
  • Observe patients for any clinical manifestations of seizures or other events and, if necessary, take appropriate steps.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and adjust equipment according to standard procedure.
  • Conduct brain death studies.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Archive EEG reports to CD disc and maintain database.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required with 2 years of college-level biological science preferred or 3-5 years equivalent experience in a clinical laboratory.
  • Pediatric experience preferred.
  • Certification by the American Board of Registration of EEG Technologists preferred or board-eligible.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR in adult, child & infant is required.
  • Trainees must achieve EEG Certification within 2 years of employment.

About the role

Accountable for performing standard and complex electroneurophysiology diagnostic procedures under minimum supervisory direction of lead technologist or department manager/supervisor.
