About the role

The Neurodiagnostic (ND) Technician performs a variety of specialized technical skills in order to conduct Neurodiagnostic (ND) procedures without direct supervision. They prepare patients for and conduct both routine and specialized ND procedures in one area of specialization (EEG, EMG).

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for and conducts both routine and specialized ND procedures in one area of specialization (EEG, EMG).
• Maintains competency standards in designated area of specialization within 6 months of hire date.
• Assists the medical staff with the performance of complex procedures.
• Provides technical data necessary for diagnosis to physicians.
• Aids in the technical training of house staff and technician trainees.
• Aids in the development and performance of new or difficult procedures.

Requirements

• Education: Associates Degree, preferably in an Allied Health Field; Graduate of a program through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP ND); Completion of ASET EEG Core Curriculum.
• Certification: Certified in ONE of the following within two years of hire: Registered Nerve Conduction Study Technologist (R.NCS.T.), Certified Nerve Conduction Technologist (CNCT), Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R.EEG.T).
• Licensure: Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent; Completion of ASET EEG Core Curriculum; Certification in ONE of the following: R.NCS.T., CNCT, R.EEG.T.
• Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Allied Health Field; Certified in R.EEG.T upon hire; ASET membership in the Neurodiagnostic Society.
