About the role

This leadership role will support UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland and San Francisco. The manager plans, develops, implements and directs the daily clinical and business operations of the Neurodiagnostics Department.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures adequate staffing to meet inpatient Neurodiagnostic services needs of the UCSF Medical and Benioff Children’s Hospitals.

  • Ensures adequate staffing to meet growing outpatient Neurodiagnostic service needs in both adult and pediatric areas.

  • Ensures monthly staffing schedules are created and distributed.

  • Responsible for adequate staffing to ensure patient coverage.

  • Makes sure there are no complaints about Neurodiagnostic services.

  • Analyzes work load measures, productivity and FTE size/mix.

  • Holds administrative staff accountable for appropriate patient scheduling, pre-registration and registration processes, authorizations and insurance verification.

  • Manages all operating expenses related to clinical services.

  • Solves any issues that impact daily departmental functions in the delivery of clinical services.

  • Acts as a resource to all staff to clarify, guide, and facilitate the resolution of issues related to patient care, staff development or program development.

  • Supports the Medical Center by communicating all department and Medical Center information and programs.

  • Ensures equipment/computer network & server integrity; works with Clinical Engineering and multiple vendors to minimize problems, patient/physician inconvenience and equipment downtime.

  • Orders equipment, supplies, clinical workstations, and associated software.

  • Supports administrative staff to perform at the level of APeX Cadence Super User to ensure that optimization programs are implemented.

  • Ensures that department maintains adequate inpatient and outpatient supplies to ensure while staying within budgetary guidelines.

  • Develops, implements and manages ongoing Neurodiagnostic teaching sessions to provide continuing education.

  • Maintains and shares knowledge of current techniques, industry advances, and regulatory standards.

  • Oversees both Neurodiagnostic Supervisors and supports them as needed to ensure efficient daily workflow and ensures timely and excellent diagnostic and ancillary support services; organizes workflow according to urgency and acuity.

  • Coordinates training and mentoring opportunities for new employees, students and incumbent staff to enhance existing knowledge, develop new job skills and to provide a positive work environment.
