Job Responsibilities and Requirements
- Leads or coordinates shift operations of assigned activities, resources and staff.
- Oversees orientation and training and serves as a resource to department staff.
- Ensures all activities comply with regulatory agency standards.
- Conducts intraoperative monitoring and post-surgical monitoring of stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) during surgical procedures.
- Performs diagnostic electroencephalograph (EEG) and electromyography (EMG) procedures when not in the operating room.
- Performs neuromonitoring of routine and continuous EEGs.
- Maintains appropriate logs for statistical and accounting purposes, and performs calculations for required reports.
- Assists in quality assurance monitoring, environmental controls, infection control standards, equipment selection, operation, application and inventory.
- Identifies and corrects for artifacts. Edits and forwards results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation.
- Maintains EEG, EMG, and MEG equipment and supplies.
- May provide input for hiring, training, leading, and evaluating staff.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
- Three years' experience in electroneurodiagnostic procedures
Physical Requirements
- Constant standing and walking.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
- Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.
- Frequent use of vision for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Occasional bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Occasional lifting/moving patients.
- Occasional use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
- Occasional driving.
Required Professional License and/or Certifications

- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Certification for Magnetoencephalography Technologist (CMEG) - ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation
- Certification for Neurophysiological Inoperative Monitoring (CNIM) - ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation
- Certified in Long Term Monitoring (CLTM) - American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET)
- Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R. EEG T.) - ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation
- Registered Nerve Conduction Study Technologist (R.NCS.T.) - American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists (AAET)
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) - Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)
