About the role

Our Neurodiagnostic Assistant will perform continuous observation of EMU (Epileptic Monitor Unit) patients and add comments as needed. You will utilize skill and knowledge of video monitoring systems and camera controls, set up equipment before testing according to department policy, and perform minor adjustments of electrodes if an EEG tech is not available. Additional duties include:

  • Disconnecting patients according to department policy
  • Cleaning and restocking EMU equipment according to department policy
  • Facilitating department workflow by burning CDs, cleaning equipment, following up on Physician Reports, and performing other office tasks
  • Restocking work areas with necessary supplies and notifying when supplies need to be ordered
  • Maintaining clean and orderly work areas to promote patient safety
  • Taking and documenting vital signs
  • Assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and toileting
  • Performing Seizure assessment protocol

Requirements

  • Entry-level PC or Microsoft Windows knowledge
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of start date
  • Associate Degree preferred
  • Completion of American Epilepsy Society: EMU Caring Modules required within the first 6 months
  • Completion of Nihon Khoden: Basic EEG Acquisition and Review required within the first 6 months
  • 12 months of experience in a medical setting required
  • 12 months of experience in a Neurodiagnostic setting preferred
