The Neuroscience Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is a 21 bed unit dedicated to the care of patients in need of specialized nursing care at a critical point in their healthcare journey, where they are at high risk for clinical deterioration.

Neuroscience Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

• Bridges ICU and general care
• Continuous telemetry and advanced neuro monitoring
• Care for pre and postoperative neurosurgical, neuro-medicine and stroke patients
• Team approach with nurses, charge nurse and patient care techs
• Specialized orientation and training
• Ongoing education and professional development

Attention to Nursing Patients

A specialized orientation is provided to prepare nurses to care for the neuroscience patient as well as training specific to Progressive Care. Ongoing education and professional development is supported and encouraged. Attention to nursing patients with the provision of excellent outcomes is what drives the work on this unit.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose: Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.

• Participates in professional development
• Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care
• Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care
• Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs

Minimum Requirements

• Nursing Diploma/Associate's Nursing
• No Experience
• No Supervisor Experience
• RN Preferred
• Bachelor's Degree Nursing
