Network Specialist, Senior
About the Role
Bowhead seeks a Senior Network Specialist to support the High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) Integrated Technical Services - Restricted (HITS-R) contract in San Diego, CA. The role provides technical and professional support for the operation of the HPCMP Office (HPCMPO) across all phases of planning and execution, including program management, telecommunications, computer systems, and logistical services.
This position involves a variety of systems engineering tasks focused on major systems design, integration, and implementation, encompassing personnel, hardware, software, budgetary considerations, and support facilities. Responsibilities include quality assurance review and evaluation of software products, analysis of design and development for hardware and software integration, and the development of system test requirements and strategies.
Responsibilities
- Perform systems engineering tasks related to major systems design, integration, and implementation.
- Provide quality assurance review and evaluation of new and existing software products.
- Analyze design, development, and integration of hardware, software, and man-machine interfaces to deliver integrated IT solutions.
- Develop integrated system test requirements, strategies, devices, and systems; direct overall system-level testing.
- Develop, create, and modify general computer applications software or specialized utility programs.
- Analyze user needs and develop software solutions to optimize operational efficiency.
- Design or customize software for client use, including database design within an application area.
- Supervise computer programmers as needed.
- Research, design, develop, and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for various applications (e.g., medical, industrial, military, communications, aerospace, business, scientific).
- Set operational specifications and analyze software requirements.
- Design embedded systems software using principles of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
Requirements
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field is required. A combination of experience and education may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
- Four or more years of relevant technical experience.
- Intermediate-to-advanced skills in Microsoft Office software suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
- Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment; ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Must currently hold a security clearance at the Top Secret level; may be required to obtain a Top Secret/SCI clearance upon hire.
- US Citizenship is required for Top Secret clearance at this location.
Physical Demands

- Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically.
Pay
Salary range is between $120,000 - $140,000 depending on experience.
