About the role

Boeing’s Missile Defense Program is seeking a motivated and talented Network Security Engineer to support the National Team Command, Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) Programs & Networks. This role contributes to the Ballistic Missile Defense System that defends the United States homeland and its regional allies worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Assess compliance of information systems with DoD RMF standards by reviewing, verifying, and validating required DoD IA RMF documentation and artifacts per DoDI 8510.01.
  • Develop cyber-secure network device configurations for firewalls, switches, and routers.
  • Serve as a primary Network Security Engineer supporting the C2BMC Program.
  • Plan, deploy, integrate, and test upgrades to the C2BMC network at operational sites.
  • Conduct independent research on networking and security topics and produce findings reports.
  • Ensure team devices are STIG-compliant and hardened appropriately, executing all required cyber protocols.
  • Assist with real-world events as needed.
  • Work 100% onsite at Colorado Springs, CO, with potential access to MDA facilities requiring a U.S. government background investigation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or non‑US equivalent directly related to the work statement.
  • In the USA, ABET accreditation is preferred but not required.
  • 2 or more years of related work experience.
  • IAT Level II 8570 compliant certification such as CompTIA Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA, etc.
  • U.S. citizenship and a valid U.S. passport.
  • Ability to travel to alternate work locations such as Schriever Space Force Base.
  • Understanding of the OSI Model, TCP/IP, VLANs, UDP Multicast.
  • Firewall configuration knowledge (Juniper, Cisco, Palo Alto).
  • Knowledge of ACL design and function.
  • Hands-on experience with multi-vendor switching/routing (Juniper, Cisco).
  • Effective communication skills with excellent writing and presentation abilities using Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Ability to design security configurations and testing procedures.
  • Familiarity with the NIST CVE framework.
  • Experience with virtualization.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with other network and system engineers.
  • Intermediate knowledge of security design, development, and testing methodologies.
  • Experience applying standard DoD security practices such as STIG compliance and system accreditation implementation.
  • Ability to thoroughly document project design and development efforts.
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments to explain network security requirements and compliance.
  • Ability to learn security hardening basics for a wide range of niche products, software, and applications.
  • Ability to summarize, brief, and recommend solutions to security issues to leadership.
  • Understanding of VMware and ESXi STIGing/hardening basics.
  • Active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance (or one active within the past 24 months).
  • Acceptance by industry partner resource control board.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of related experience.
  • Scripting knowledge in Python, Ansible, or PowerShell.
  • Solid understanding of JUNOS.
  • Prior C2BMC experience.

Pay

Summary Pay Range (Associate Level – Level 2): $102,000 – $138,000. Salary is based on candidate experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations.
