Responsibilities

  • Monitor and respond to hardware and software problems using a variety of testing tools and techniques.
  • Install and configure network hardware and software.
  • Provide network troubleshooting and support.
  • Deliver technical support and training for end-users.
  • Apply network protocols, architectures, and security measures such as VPN and IDS/IPS.
  • Maintain and document the cybersecurity Risk Management process and operational security posture for MTC Training Enclaves and MTC Training Exercise Network.
  • Back up file server data/disks.
  • Perform minor to moderately complex server maintenance.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
  • Understand the OSI model for troubleshooting, layer 1 and 2 virtualization.
  • Safeguard the network against unauthorized infiltration, modification, destruction, or disclosure.
  • May serve as a task or team lead; not a people manager.
  • Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required to support customer requirements.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education, certifications, training, or work experience.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience; military and MTC experience preferred.
  • Secret clearance required to start.

Skills

  • Network troubleshooting and support principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Routers, switches, patch panels, concentrators, terminals, and related network hardware and software.
  • Desktop operating systems and applications.
  • Diagnostic abilities to solve network technical problems in a large training complex network.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work independently and in a team.
  • System administration and networking principles including Windows 11, Windows Server 2022, and Linux.
  • Analyzing network security architectures and creating network design diagrams with port, protocol, and service details.
  • DoD and US Army IAVM tracking and reporting.
  • Implementation of network cybersecurity best practices and remediation guidance for supported platforms.
  • Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, and NX-OS; dynamic routing; fiber and module operations; GRE tunnel configuration; VLANs and trunking.

Certifications

  • CompTIA Security+ (Baseline Certification) IAW DoD 8570.01-M required.
  • Computing Environment Certification IAW DoD 8570.01-M required, IAT level II.

Schedule

Normal work schedule is 0730–1630; may require night or weekend work shifts depending on specific training event requirements.
