Network Operations Center System Administrator
Job Description & Responsibilities
Persistent Systems is seeking a Network Operations Center (NOC) System Administrator to join our growing team. The position is based in Clearfield, UT.
- Maintain system availability and performance for mission-critical tactical networks
- Respond to system alerts, emails, and phone calls from users
- Perform system updates and maintenance on local and remote physical and virtual servers, switches, routers, and workstations
- Create, maintain, and delete user accounts in Active Directory and local systems
- Monitor system logs and performance metrics to identify potential issues
- Support cybersecurity operations by implementing security configurations and assisting with incident response activities
Position Responsibilities
Monitor and manage network operations of local and remote enclaves, ensuring continuous availability and optimal performance of all system components
Respond to system alerts and alarms, trouble tickets, emails, and phone calls from users, conduct initial triage and escalation to provide timely resolution and maintain system availability and performance
Coordinate with network, system, and cybersecurity engineers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
Perform system updates and maintenance on local and remote physical and virtual servers, switches, routers, and workstations according to approved schedules and change control procedures
Create, maintain, and delete user accounts in Active Directory and local systems, ensuring proper access controls and adherence to least privilege principles
Provide input and feedback to the change control process
Participate in periodic documentation reviews in support of ATO review and renewal cycles
Execute backup and recovery procedures, verify backup integrity, and perform restoration testing to ensure business continuity capabilities
Job Qualifications & Experience
- Four or more years of hands-on experience in system administration, network operations, help desk, or IT support roles, or two years of experience and a degree in a related field
- Certification as required by DoD 8140 for system administration (e.g. Security+, SSCP)
- Working knowledge of Windows Server and desktop operating systems, including Active Directory user management and Group Policy
- Basic understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching
- Familiarity with monitoring tools, ticketing systems, and remote administration
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication skills with ability to document issues clearly and interact professionally with users and technical teams
- Ability to work scheduled shifts including potential evening, weekend, or on-call rotation coverage
- Currently hold or have the ability to obtain United States Secret security clearance
