Network Installation Specialist - Master

About the role
We are expanding our team to support the US Army Comprehensive Modernization (COMPMOD) program, which provides end-to-end EFIS&T services—from survey and design through installation, security, and testing. This role spans NIPR and SIPR networks, Wi-Fi, VoIP, ISP/OSP infrastructure, and voice modernization across all CONUS Army installations. As a Master Network Installation Specialist, you will perform highly detailed technical tasks, lead field teams, and design, deploy, and manage complex IT solutions to meet organizational needs.
Responsibilities
- Plan and complete complex technical projects from survey and engineering to site implementation.
- Develop and maintain high standards of installation and service; lead, train, and counsel network installation technicians.
- Serve as a technical resource for project managers and field technicians.
- Act as the first line of communication for field installation teams, supporting project managers.
- Take responsibility for the development and quality assessment of all field deliverables before submission to SMEs or project managers.
- Maintain accountability for task-oriented work efforts of assigned personnel.
- Ensure engineering schedules are met or exceeded.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into comprehensive IT implementation designs.
Training and Implementation
- Lead the implementation and deployment of IT systems, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
- Conduct physical onsite network surveys to determine engineering solutions for assigned projects.
- Provide client-site network installation support, including hardware installation as prescribed by Site Engineering Solution (SES) documentation.
- Prepare complex site reports, documents, diagrams, and VISIO drawings to meet customer deliverable requirements.
- Train and certify others to develop proficiency in site surveys and documentation.
- Provide input to field technicians for procedural documentation (e.g., BER testing, platform configurations, deliverables, procedures).
- Configure installed technology, including cryptographic, MPLS, optical, and timing equipment, and supporting systems.
- Perform troubleshooting and fault-isolation to bring installed equipment to a functional state; coordinate with network engineers for installation testing and acceptance.
- Train team members on completing site surveys to create detailed and accurate reports.
- Ensure team members are adequately trained and equipped with the tools necessary for success.
- Instill operational and field quality expectations to enhance confidence in By Light’s site work.
Engineering and Field Assistance
- Provide project design support in coordination with Engineering to meet customer objectives.
- Produce, direct, and lead preparation of Site Engineering Solution (SES) documentation, Site Survey Reports (SSRs), Site Concurrence Letters (SCLs), Site Implementation Plans (SIPs), and Indentured/Manufacturing Bill of Materials (IBOM/MBOM) documents.
- Assess, design, build, and document current site network configurations and user requirements.
- Interpret SES according to real-world conditions and modify solutions/designs as needed.
- Direct and lead preparation of drawings documenting configuration changes.
- Perform system-level design and configuration, including hardware and platform specifications.
- Document as-built configurations through redlined SES documentation and produce Completion Reports (CR).
- Provide oversight and guidance for client-site installation support services.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews of all Technical Design Packages.
- Provide onsite and remote technical direction for system deployment, configuration, commissioning, and testing.
- Monitor assigned project and task issues, developing resolutions to meet schedule, quality, and client-satisfaction goals.
- Provide onsite direction and assistance during installations.
- Work with the Project Manager to determine alternative IBOM materials when necessary.
General Administrative Duties
- Coordinate with Engineering Management on changes and updates to engineering and technical documents.
- Provide regular project updates to stakeholders, addressing potential risks or issues.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution from initiation to completion.
Requirements
- 7.5+ years of relevant experience as an Implementation Engineer.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Visio.
- Active Secret Clearance (Top Secret preferred).
- Ability to travel 90% of the time for CONUS and potentially OCONUS deployments.
