Position Overview
The Network English Language Arts Coach will work collaboratively with teachers, building leaders and the Network Teams to improve instructional practice in English Language Arts education. This role is designed to enhance teacher pedagogical practice, English Language Arts content knowledge and promote effective instructional strategies that lead to student success.
About the Role
- Work collaboratively and collectively with Principals, staff and other supervisors to ensure that English Language Arts instructional programs and services are coordinated in the school and are administered uniformly and equitably.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, reflection and continuous improvement among teachers.
- Collaborate with instructional specialists and the Office of Academics to determine curriculum and instructional needs.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Teacher Support and Development:
- Collaborate with teachers to plan, implement, monitor and measure English Language Arts instruction.
- Professional Development:
- Stay current with the latest trends and best practices in English Language Arts education and intervention, attending relevant training and conferences.
- Be willing to support English Language Arts instructional strategies through co-teaching and/or lesson modeling.
- Data Analysis:
- Collect and analyze data on student performance to inform decision-making and improve instructional strategies.
- Facilitate data meetings with teachers to support individual teacher action plans and small group instruction in the classroom.
- Aid teachers in using data to inform instructional decisions and student outcomes.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of PLCs, Data Meetings, Professional Developments, assessments and student progress, to ensure alignment with the improvement of teacher instructional English Language Arts practice.
- Curriculum Support:
- Assist teachers in understanding and implementing the district curriculum.
- Provide feedback and support to the Instructional Specialist and the Office of Academics as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, English Language Arts or a related field (Master's Degree preferred)
- Valid teaching certificate(s) issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education
- Minimum five (5) years teaching experience
- Knowledge of instruction, relevant curriculum and high-quality instructional strategies for English Language Arts
- Experience in teaching English Language Arts
- Strong background in effective implementation of professional development, data assessment and instructional coaching
- Thorough knowledge of principles of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, including culturally relevant pedagogy
- Analyze assessment and other relevant data to assist in creating goals and objectives and evaluating the effectiveness of program services
- Thorough understanding of Pennsylvania State standards
- Understanding of the culture, lifestyle, educational, and social needs of ethnic and marginalized students and children of poverty
- Computer technology and software skills
- Strong knowledge of culturally responsive teaching
