GDIT is seeking a Network Engineer Senior Principal to support our Space Force program. As a trusted advisor, you will review and evaluate IT infrastructure and systems to ensure adherence to government quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Design, plan, build, and maintain complex communications networks.
- Configure routers, switches, encryptors, firewalls for LAN/WAN systems, VPN concentrators, and network engineering/communications protocols.
- Configure COMSEC equipment and support remote management through DoD-approved solutions.
- Coordinate LAN/WAN hardware/software improvements/enhancements in accordance with NIAP and NCDSMO approved devices and technologies.
- Monitor the network using industry-leading technologies.
- Provide innovative technical solutions to meet customer-driven requirements using the engineering design process.
- Collaborate with the Engineering team to design, plan, and implement approved solutions and enhancements.
- Analyze customer requirements and provide technical solutions.
- Perform maintenance and upgrades of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and networks.
- Maintain network integrity, connectivity, compliance with policies, and system backup/recovery capability.
- Coordinate acquisition of hardware, software, and subcontractor services as needed.
- Create plans and configure systems for data communication networks.
- Evaluate new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities.
- Maintain and obtain knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
- Design and build hardware/software components for telecommunications networks.
- Provide guidance to leadership and coordinate activities of less-experienced network personnel.
- Support RMF 800-53 Rev 5 compliance by contributing to NIST System Security Plans (SSPs), Basis of Estimate (BoE) documentation, Continuous Monitoring (ConMon) activities, and Assessment and Authorization (A&A) requirements across classified networks.
- Perform maintenance and upgrades of networks including cross-domain solutions and cloud-hosted networking technologies.
- Demonstrate expertise in a multi-vendor environment for layer 2/3 switching and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), network management solutions, and virtual/cloud-hosted networking technologies.
Requirements
- Active DoD Secret Clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret.
- BA/BS degree.
- 10+ years of experience in Network Administration.
- IAT Level II certification.
- Hybrid work schedule (onsite 3 days a week or as required to meet mission needs).
- Experience designing and defining network architecture for new or existing computer systems.
- Experience with cloud/server/network/storage implementation and support.
- Experience with VMware and Nutanix implementation and support.
- 5+ years of experience maintaining ATO-approved and implemented Cross-Domain Raise the Bar Solutions in a classified environment.
- US Citizenship required.
Desired Skills
- Experience working with DoD Government customers.
- Experience working in Agile teams.
- Familiarity with cloud environments, virtual routing, virtual switching, and IPSec tunneling.
- Cisco Networking Certifications.
- Experience maintaining up-to-date documentation and preparing documentation for infrastructure changes.

Pay
The likely salary range for this position is $144,500 - $195,500, based on experience, geographic location, and contractual requirements.
Schedule
- Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40.
- Travel Required: 10-25%.
