About the role
As a Network Engineer at GDIT, the work you'll do will be impactful to the mission of supporting national security, defense operations, and critical infrastructure protection. You will play a crucial role in designing, securing, and maintaining resilient network architectures that enable uninterrupted communication, real-time data sharing, and mission-critical system availability, ensuring that operational objectives are achieved efficiently and securely in dynamic and high-stakes environments.
Responsibilities
- Design and architect scalable, secure voice, video, wireless, and data communication networks
- Lead development of high-level and low-level network designs (HLD/LLD)
- Deploy and integrate Cisco-based enterprise and data center solutions
- Configure and support advanced technologies including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, VXLAN, and EVPN
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to stakeholders and senior leadership
- Translate complex technical requirements into actionable strategies and architectures
- Collaborate across multiple technical disciplines including security, cloud, and DevOps
- Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment managing competing priorities
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues and perform root cause analysis
- Identify and implement performance, reliability, and security improvements
- Develop automation solutions using Python, Ansible, or similar tools
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science (or equivalent experience)
- Experience: 10+ years of related experience
- Security clearance: TS/SCI required
- US citizenship required
Required skills
- Routing & switching (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
- LAN/WAN architecture and deployment
- Network monitoring and performance tools (SolarWinds, NetFlow, Wireshark)
- Firewalls, VPNs, QoS, load balancers
- Cisco platforms (Catalyst, Nexus, NGFW, ACI, Meraki)
- CCNP/CCNA with equivalent expert level experience (Cisco CCIE preferred)
Preferred skills
- SDN, Cisco Catalyst Center, ISE, Intersight
- Cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Network automation (Python, REST APIs, Ansible, Terraform)
- Zero Trust principles and security best practices
- Data center technologies (VXLAN, EVPN, ACI)

Pay
The likely salary range for this position is $142,792 - $172,500.
Schedule
40 hours per week, on-site, with less than 10% travel required.
