Network Engineer/manager

Our client is seeking a visionary, growth-minded leader for the role of Manager, Network Architecture at their Global Headquarters in Benton Harbor, MI. Operating to foster high-energy, in-person collaboration and innovation, you will directly oversee, mentor, and inspire a broad team of over 20+ network experts. In this high-visibility senior leadership role, you will report straight to the Director of Infrastructure & Operations and be uniquely poised as a successor for this Director-level position.

About the role

You will champion the vitality and evolution of a multi-service data network, driving global technology decisions that accelerate business innovation and cloud-native automation. Balancing executive strategy with operational excellence, you will optimize workflows and delegate critical support processes to strategic support suppliers (NOC).

Responsibilities

• Directly oversee, mentor, and empower a broad team of 20 network experts, cultivating a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous growth.
• Plan and architect enterprise-scale LAN, WAN, Wireless, and Data Center deployments. Spearhead the integration of core network services, including L2/L3 switching, BGP and EIGRP routing, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Load Balancing, IPAM, DNS/DHCP, Firewalls, IPSec VPN, and SD-WAN.
• Champion the design, implementation, and maintenance of a multi-region, multi-cloud (AWS/GCP/OCI) network environment, seamlessly supporting IaaS VPCs and accelerating cloud-native (PaaS) capabilities.
• Lead and participate in high-impact network security initiatives, including driving critical manufacturing segmentation deployments to secure the global footprint.
• Serve as the ultimate escalation point, providing expert trouble resolution for critical, high-priority core network issues. Ensure after-hours support coverage to sustain network service levels, including complex technical changes to support projects and operations deployments (24/7).
• Proactively identify essential network maintenance tasks and build structured processes to implement them flawlessly.
• Evaluate, manage, and evolve core network monitoring and diagnostic tools, ensuring the NOC has deep visibility and mature workflows to proactively support the global network.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 8+ years of experience as a Network/Cloud/Infrastructure Architect.

Qualifications

• AWS Certified (Solutions Architect or Advanced Networking).
• Google Cloud Professional Cloud Network Engineer Certification.
• Cisco CCNP.
• ITIL v3 Foundation Certification.
• Knowledge of SD-WAN technologies.
• Knowledge of manufacturing segmentation architectures with deployment experience.
• Knowledge of system monitoring and management tools such as SolarWinds.
• Leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Analytical skills, experience solving practical issues, and engaging teams of multiple process partners to consensus.
• Experience managing third-party vendors for operations support and project delivery, such as network refresh (life-cycle management) programs.
• Experience in a global and international work environment.
• Experience designing and implementing connectivity and troubleshooting within AWS and/or GCP cloud platforms, including understanding cloud provider platforms and their native networking services/tools.
• Experience with Cisco equipment and operating systems, including configuration, installation, troubleshooting, and support of routers and switches.
• Experience conducting short- and long-term planning to meet network requirements.
• Experience with LAN and WAN protocols and topologies (EIGRP, BGP, MPLS).
• Experience with switching technologies (VLANs, Spanning-Tree, VSS).
• Experience in security technologies including Palo Alto firewalls, VPN, and Remote Access.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $74.00/hr. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

Schedule

This is a hybrid position based in Benton Harbor, MI. The role requires after-hours support coverage to sustain 24/7 network service levels.
