Please visit our website at www.drhorton.com for more information. D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Network Engineer III. The right candidate will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of network systems communications.
Responsibilities
- Maintain computer networks including routers, switches, VPNs and other physical hardware/software
- Monitor systems to improve network performance for all systems
- Troubleshoot, resolve, and communicate networking issues to other employees and management
- Research, install, configure and upgrade network hardware and software
- Create firewall rules and update software and data security systems to keep data and communications protected
- Implement disaster recovery procedures
- Improve knowledge and understanding of network and security best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systems
- Coach and review the work of team members
- Provide on-site support for projects that require on-site installation and support
- Design and implement new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
- Arrange scheduled upgrades
- Investigate faults in the network
- Update network equipment to the latest firmware releases
- Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
- Report network status to key stakeholders
- Participate in on-call rotation
- Ability to travel overnight
Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and four to seven years of related work experience are required. Must have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license.
- Advanced understanding of network services and networks protocols (to include but not limited to): BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP, VRRP, VRF, VTP, DHCP, DNS
- Advanced understanding and practical knowledge of networking systems such as routers and switches and firewalls
- Working knowledge with Cisco IOS and Nexus NX-OS
- Advanced understanding of OSI model and troubleshooting of technology related issues
- Able to work well in a fast-paced environment and be comfortable in stressful situations
- Effectively communicate with management and non-technical personnel on any technology issue
- Detail oriented self-motivated goal driven
- Ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently
- Ability to implement and troubleshoot network and security infrastructure
- Experience managing large projects/processes working independently
- Knowledge of Windows operating systems
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to execute excellent customer service relationship skills
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
- Proficiency with MS Office and email
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field from a four-year college or university
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
- Working knowledge regarding Cisco Firewalls
- Experience working in the F5 Load Balancer
- Experience working in SDWAN
- Working knowledge in ACI
