Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Install, configure, optimize, and troubleshoot critical network hardware, including Cisco switches, wireless access points, and a Cisco Firepower-1150 security appliance.
- Manage public/internal IP address spaces, subnets, and VLAN assignments.
- Actively collaborate with the Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to update the network's ATO package and address Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM) resolutions.
- Attend weekly Vulnerability Management Meetings and apply zero-day threat mitigations within 24 hours of identification.
- Implement Multifactor Authentication (MFA), manage SSL certificates from the domain CA, maintain secure Active Directory-integrated VPN configurations, and analyze centralized log data and critical counters.
- Author and maintain architectural network topography maps, system diagrams, and vendor end-of-life (EOL/EOS) schedules.
- Provide engineering cost estimates and technology strategy roadmaps to lab leadership and CIO investment managers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and be eligible to obtain a USDA LincPass (HSPD-12 PIV card).
- Comprehensive experience with Cisco enterprise network hardware (switches, firewalls, routers), federal Information System Security guidelines (NIST/USDA policy), and cross-town fiber environments.
