Network Engineer I, II, III (OT)
About the role
The incumbent will plan, organize, assign, direct, review, and participate in the operations and activities of the facility maintenance section, which performs facility maintenance citywide. They will also oversee the work of contractors in these areas.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, assign, direct, review, and participate in the operations and activities of the section.
- Administer section's budget.
- Responsible for a variety of personnel actions including: selections, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
- Plan work schedules; determine equipment and material needs; establish work procedures.
- Order and maintain an adequate inventory of materials, supplies, parts and equipment for the section's total work program.
- Assist with support of city special events and including public address systems, audio-visual, and basic building trades.
- Schedule and supervise repair and construction of various structures such as partitions, counters, benches, windows, and cabinets; maintenance for swimming pools, water features, well pumps, and backflow inspection; electrical work, including timers, switches, exterior lights, and other equipment in parks and for City facilities; preventive maintenance on air conditioners and heaters.
- Oversee contractual services in facility maintenance; prepare work plans and cost estimates for contract services.
- Drive automotive equipment to and from work locations.
Requirements
A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be: Four years of experience in general facility maintenance work involving any combination of carpentry, plumbing, painting, or mechanical maintenance work including two years in a lead supervisory capacity. Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in facility maintenance and repair. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver's license.
Qualifications
- Competently familiar with ADA compliance and regulations.
- Safety principles, practices, and procedures.
- Custodial maintenance procedures, materials, methods and practices.
- Painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air-conditioning, and heating maintenance procedures.
- Analyze and interpret federal and state regulations pertaining to the facility maintenance section.
- Estimate job costs, and keep neat and accurate records.
- Plan, organize, and assign the work of personnel engaged in facility maintenance and repair.
- Meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform assigned duties, including the performance of strenuous labor and the lifting of heavy objects.
Skills
Competent in analyzing and interpreting federal and state regulations pertaining to the facility maintenance section. Proficient in estimating job costs and keeping records neat and accurate. Skilled in planning, organizing, and assigning the work of personnel engaged in facility maintenance and repair. Able to meet the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned duties, including the performance of strenuous labor and the lifting of heavy objects.
