Network Engineer I

About the role

PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the steel manufacturing industry to find a talented Network Engineer who is ready to make a lasting impact. This is a full-time, permanent position requiring relocation to Ghent, Kentucky.

Responsibilities

• Configure, maintain, and support enterprise network infrastructure across manufacturing operations.
• Collaborate with local and enterprise technology teams to design scalable and secure network architectures.
• Lead the installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of networking equipment.
• Drive consistency by implementing current and emerging enterprise networking standards.
• Provide technical support for infrastructure projects and internal customer requests.
• Identify opportunities to improve network standards, policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Troubleshoot network issues and implement effective, long-term solutions.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and travel as needed to support business operations.
• Promote and uphold safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards in every aspect of your work.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience configuring and managing enterprise network infrastructure.
• Strong working knowledge of: TCP/IP networking, VLANs, DHCP and DNS, LAN design, installation, configuration, cabling, and network management.
• Ability to analyze technical issues and implement effective solutions.
• Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering exceptional internal support.
• Willingness to travel and participate in an on-call support rotation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Industry certifications such as Network+, CCENT, CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent.
• Experience with Cisco Catalyst 9000 switching and wireless technologies.
• Knowledge of single-mode and multi-mode fiber installation.
• Experience configuring and administering Spanning Tree Protocol.
• Experience with IP routing and multiple routing protocols.
• Familiarity with network monitoring platforms and configuration backup solutions.
