Network Engineer

Castalia Systems is supporting a U.S. Government customer to provide onsite incident response to civilian Government agencies and critical asset owners who experience cyber-attacks, providing immediate investigation and resolution. Contract personnel perform investigations to characterize the severity of breaches, develop mitigation plans, and assist with the restoration of services. We are seeking a motivated network engineer to implement, maintain, and support the lab network infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Leverage advanced analytical and technical skills to design and implement infrastructure solutions that enhance mission execution and support command decision-making.
• Support the integration of new technologies and equipment within lab environments, including development and refinement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies.
• Assess network topology and device configurations, identify critical security vulnerabilities, and recommend security best practices.
• Provide user support for Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) such as Citrix, as well as MacOS and iOS platforms.
• Troubleshoot and resolve a broad range of technical issues, from basic to complex network problems.
• Implement granular access controls, monitor system performance and accessibility, establish and maintain backup protocols, and ensure system security.
• Diagnose and resolve complex enterprise storage issues across local and wide area networks, including replication strategy support and remediation of storage-related incidents.
• Design, build, and maintain robust network environments by configuring routers, switches, and firewalls, as well as updating network devices and performing IP address audits.
• Ensure optimal network performance by troubleshooting issues, enforcing system standards, and collaborating with stakeholders to optimize infrastructure.
• Secure network systems through policy enforcement, access controls, and continuous monitoring.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Systems Engineering, or related degree; or HS Diploma and 7+ years of network administration, network engineering, or systems administration experience.
• 5+ years of directly relevant experience in network administration.
• Proficiency with multiple operating systems, including Linux/Unix and MacOS.
• Strong knowledge and experience with routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Experience and knowledge of networking and network administration.
• Skilled in working with virtual desktop environments (Citrix, VMware).
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with a Secret clearance and the ability to obtain DHS Suitability.
• Must be able to work collaboratively across physical locations.

Preferred Qualifications

• TS/SCI clearance.
• Familiarity with Palo Alto firewalls and Cisco switches.
• Experience with converged infrastructure solutions (e.g., FlexPod) and NetApp storage systems.
• Proficiency with Cisco Intersight, vCenter, and virtualization automation/optimization.
• Strong documentation skills for technical procedures and SOPs.
• Capable of creating and maintaining network diagrams.
• Demonstrated experience in network design, implementation, and performance tuning.
• Project management capabilities and excellent time-management skills.
• Expertise in hardening network devices and infrastructure for enhanced security.
• DoD 8140.01 IAT Level II certification.
• Network+ or CCNA certification.

Pay

The projected compensation range for this position is $125,000.00 to $135,000.00 (annualized USD). Salary is determined by various factors, including location, position knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.

Schedule

Full-time, onsite. Normal office environment with travel as required.
