The Opportunity

We are seeking a President to lead a mission-driven sustainable and fair-trade apparel company based in the greater Ann Arbor, Michigan area. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of growing a D2C brand and a deep commitment to sustainability and fair trade.

What You Will Do

  • Serve as President of a mission-driven sustainable and fair-trade apparel company.
  • Own full P&L responsibility, business strategy, and operations.
  • Drive Revenue Growth:
    • Lead efforts to grow the business through marketing, outreach, and the development of new products and accounts.
    • Emphasize D2C channel expansion to reach a much wider audience.
  • Execute Operational Business Objectives:
    • Develop and execute repeatable business processes to achieve key business results.
    • Establish and track key operational metrics and financial outcomes.
  • Collaborate on Financial Decisions:
    • Work closely with Teamshares staff and company-level financial partners to manage ongoing expenses, capital purchases, and growth initiatives.
  • Lead Growth Initiatives:
    • Act as a growth leader, working with employee-owners to improve company operations and expand revenue opportunities.
    • Build on the strong operational foundation already in place.
  • Manage HR and Personnel Matters:
    • Handle HR responsibilities, including staff disputes, employee performance evaluations, job reviews, raises, and bonuses.
  • Build Relationships:
    • Invest in the local Michigan community and build strong relationships with customers, vendors, supply chain partners, and mission-aligned organizations.
  • Transition to Employee Ownership:
    • Collaborate with Teamshares and fellow shareholders during the transition to employee ownership, coaching and partnering to instill an owner's mindset.

What You Bring

  • Values alignment: Deep personal commitment to sustainability, fair trade, transparency, and doing right by people and planet.
  • D2C growth experience: Demonstrated track record of growing a direct-to-consumer brand from single- to double-digit millions in revenue, ideally with P&L ownership.
  • Strong marketing background: Proven ability to build brand awareness, deepen customer loyalty, and expand reach for a values-driven consumer product.
  • Supply chain fluency: Ability to engage knowledgeably and confidently with the company's complex, values-driven supply chain relationships.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: An entrepreneurial spirit with a desire to build, innovate, and operate hands-on in a transformative environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership: Demonstrated people leadership abilities with strong interpersonal and communication skills and a low-ego, collaborative approach.
  • Business acumen: Strong analytical skills to oversee company financials and develop effective strategies for sustainable growth.
  • Project management and problem-solving: Proven project management skills coupled with a humble, hands-on, get-it-done attitude.
  • Growth mindset: Willingness to explore new ideas, learn from mistakes, and innovate continuously.
  • Agility and flexibility: Equally adept at thinking creatively and critically, with a natural bias toward action.
  • Michigan presence: Based in Michigan or committed to being on the ground there.
