About the role
The Network Engineer supports the IT Infrastructure & Operations organization, providing on-site network support at Dulles, VA and several remote sites. This position requires working on-site at the Dulles, VA campus.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to clients, responding promptly to their requests and resolving network issues.
- Show proficiency with Cisco routers and switches, and have a solid understanding of TCP/IP protocols, Dynamic Routing Protocols, and switching technologies.
- Plan, design, configure, and install network hardware to meet customer requirements.
- Solve network-related problems reported by users and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Create and ensure appropriate network documentation, including operational instructions.
- Monitor and analyze network performance for short- and long-range planning.
- Occasionally travel to other Northrop Grumman sites as needed.
- Interface regularly with customers to manage installation timelines and deliverables.
- Use network analysis tools like WireShark, Opnet, SolarWinds, etc.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications and Visio.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work after hours and weekends as needed.
Requirements
- 2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret level security clearance.
- Experience with Cisco hardware and setting up switched networks.
Qualifications
- Proficient in networking, including LAN, WAN, Wireless, and interconnection.
- Knowledgeable about standards, guidelines, and industry trends in the Networking discipline.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Skills
- Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification preferred.
