About the role

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, this position is responsible for designing, supporting, managing and maintaining all aspects of the network infrastructure. This includes LAN/WAN, wireless technologies, network security, VoIP, and datacenter switching. The Network Architect engages in architecture definition, planning, technology direction, project management as well as mentoring of network engineers. This position works closely with clients, vendors, carriers and other technical and non-technical staff to analyze business and technical requirements and develop options, recommendations and associated cost benefits, while providing engineering design for implementations.

This position will research, evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies for data, video and voice networks. Assess emerging technologies and make recommendations to information technology management. Oversee, certify and assist in implementation and support of the enterprise wide network.

Responsibilities

  • Design, support, manage, and maintain all aspects of the network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, wireless technologies, network security, VoIP, datacenter switching)
  • Engage in architecture definition, planning, and technology direction
  • Provide project management and mentor network engineers
  • Analyze business and technical requirements and develop options, recommendations, and cost-benefit analyses
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new tools and technologies for data, video, and voice networks
  • Assess emerging technologies and make recommendations to IT management
  • Oversee, certify, and assist in implementation and support of the enterprise-wide network

Requirements

  • Five years' experience designing complex networks configured with high availability
  • Experience managing Cisco routers & switches, wireless technologies, cabling systems, firewalls, UPS power systems, SNMP
  • Experience in designing network infrastructure, configuring routers & switches, hardware & software upgrades, network protocols, LAN/WLAN/WAN based networks
  • Network design experience with Cisco routers, switches, VPN concentrators, firewalls, wireless access points, IDS, CiscoWorks, WLSE, and High Availability redundant design
  • Skills in working with desktop devices (PCs, printers, VTs) and Windows operating system
  • Strong task and project management skills to ensure timely completion of tasks and projects
  • Ability to resolve problems effectively and efficiently to minimize disruptions and unplanned downtime
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to perform administrative responsibilities to comply with organizational and IS policies, procedures, and standards
  • Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or commensurate equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Eight years' experience designing complex networks configured with high availability
  • Experience in complex infrastructure projects both as a lead and technical resource
  • Strong teamwork abilities with multiple IS groups and departmental user groups
  • Certification in CCNP, CCIE, and/or Aruba ACxx (can be in progress)
  • Master's Degree

Work Environment

  • Sedentary work with very light energy level
  • Lifting requirements: 10 lbs. overhead, 15 lbs. carrying, push/pull 20 lbs. cart
  • Physical activities: Bending, carrying objects, climbing, keyboard use/repetitive motion, pinching/fine motor activities, push/pull, reaching forward/overhead, sitting, squat/kneel/crawl, standing, talking/hearing, tasting/smelling, twisting, walking, wrist position deviation
  • Lifting frequency: Constant (67% or more) floor-to-waist and waist-and-above lifting
  • Sensory requirements: Color discrimination, depth perception, far vision, hearing, near vision
  • Environmental conditions: Airborne communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, dust particulate matter, extreme noise levels, extreme temperatures, radiation, uneven surfaces or elevations

Pay

Pay Range: Minimum $133,827, Midpoint $177,320, Maximum $220,792. Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, and position requirements.

Schedule

Day shift – 08 hours
