Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for the division aligned with the organization's strategic initiatives.
- Work distribution, accountability for team performance, goals, and employee performance plans/appraisals.
- Manage and maintain the stability and performance of systems and related infrastructure.
- Continuous monitoring of system health and troubleshooting issues.
- Maintain and improve the security posture of the systems.
- Manage Linux servers and related application systems that support the UNC System Office.
- Design, document, and install, configure, and support infrastructure for server and storage implementation.
- Support the various phases of server and storage implementation, from development to live transition and support.
- Perform disaster recovery design and maintenance, including yearly testing or as required.
- Manage vulnerability management processes, including regression testing and implementation.
- Provide 24/7 after-hours support for customer service as part of a call-out rotation.
- Participate in scheduled maintenance activities after-hours during the week and on weekends.
- Make periodic travel to data centers and UNC System locations, which may require overnight stays.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in system administration and network administration.
- Experience managing and maintaining Linux servers and related application systems.
- Experience with continuous monitoring, troubleshooting, and security management of systems.
- Experience with disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Experience with vulnerability management processes, including regression testing and implementation.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Ability to work remotely and provide 24/7 after-hours support.
