Network and Systems Engineer

Oostkamp, Belgium (remote work 1 day/week) – Full-time

About the role

CERM is looking for a motivated and ambitious Network and Systems Engineer to join our customer-facing IT support team. In this hybrid role, you will provide first-line remote support to customers around the world while also contributing to project-based technical work, ensuring reliable IT systems and long-term customer satisfaction. You will report to the Systems Engineering team leader and work within a small, experienced team of IT engineers.

Responsibilities

• Customer Support
  • Provide first-line helpdesk support via our ticketing system.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot IT issues remotely.
  • Escalate unresolved problems to higher-level support when needed.
• Project & Technical Work
  • Participate in IT implementation and infrastructure projects.
  • Assist customers during cloud migration processes.
  • Manage and maintain virtual server environments on customer IT platforms.
  • Install, configure, and maintain our software using checklists and automation tools.
  • Collaborate with other departments to improve customer experience.
  • Provide regular status updates and documentation of activities.
• General Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of tasks and follow up proactively.
  • Maintain high standards in personal administration.
  • Participate in team meetings and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• At least a bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience in IT support.
• Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
• Enjoy analyzing and troubleshooting technical issues.
• Self-directed and proactive in your work.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English (French or another language is a plus).
• Eager to learn and work with new technologies.

Skills

• Experience with virtualization: ESXi, Hyper-V, Proxmox, Docker
• Experience with cloud hosting & services: Azure, AWS
• Experience with IaC & Automation: Ansible, Jenkins, Git, API
• Experience with databases: SQL Server 20xx
• Experience with Operating Systems such as Windows Server (RDS, PowerShell) or Linux: Debian, Rocky Linux, Bash scripting
• Experience with networking: TCP/IP, VPN, NAT, Firewall, Wi-Fi, SD-WAN
• Experience with email & productivity: Office365, SMTP
• Experience with hardware: servers, printers, Wi-Fi scanners
