Network and Computer Systems Administrator
About the role
Intelligent Waves is seeking a highly skilled and mission-focused Network and Computer Systems Administrator to support critical operations for our government customer. This role is essential in maintaining and advancing secure, high-performance computing environments that are vital to national defense and operational success. As a key member of our technical team, the Network and Computer Systems Administrator will provide comprehensive Tier 1–3 support within a cloud infrastructure environment. This position requires a professional with demonstrated expertise in complex, multi-domain technical assignments. The ideal candidate will bring innovation and initiative, applying original approaches to problem-solving while operating with significant autonomy. Contributions will directly support mission deliverables and measurable performance outcomes.
Location: Fort Belvoir, VA
Travel: This position is an on-site role at Fort Belvoir, VA with up to 10% travel to other sites. Travel will be reimbursed based on GSA Per Diem rates and DoD Joint Travel Regulations (JTR).
Schedule: Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and some holidays, as necessary. Shift will likely be approximately 1500–2300, Monday through Friday.
Clearance Requirement: This position must be a United States Citizen and hold a current Top Secret, with SCI eligibility, security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Fulfill Tier 1–3 tenant service requests within cloud infrastructure environments.
- Address and resolve tenant access requests efficiently.
- Escalate service requests when necessary to ensure timely resolution.
- Monitor operational environments to maintain system health and ensure availability.
- Deploy patches and security hardening across Linux and Windows/AD Systems
- Provision and configure Tenant Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs) and associated roles to support infrastructure needs.
- Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform); support container/Kubernetes workloads in the CI/CD pipeline.
- Contribute to project deliverables as required.
- Track and report on performance metrics to support continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field and at least 3 years of experience implementing security principles and administering IT systems; 6 years of hands-on experience administering IT systems may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- Install, configure, support, and maintain LAN, WAN, and Internet/network systems; monitor network availability and performance, perform required maintenance, support network planning and analysis, and administer network security measures.
- 3+ years of experience supporting operations and maintenance for secure information management systems, including monitoring network availability and performing necessary maintenance to support network availability and security measures.
- 3+ years of experience with scripting languages, including Bash, Ansible, or YAML.
- 3+ years of experience with Linux operating systems and command-line interfaces
- 3+ years of experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and containers.
- 3+ years of experience with Windows operating systems and Active Directory.
- 1+ year of experience provisioning, installing, configuring, operating, and maintaining software and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) within a DevSecOps and continuous delivery environment using automation tools such as Terraform.
- 1+ year of experience with Platform as a Service (PaaS) technologies, including Kubernetes.

Pay
$138,000–$147,000
