Contract
Onsite position in Bethesda, VA with a 40-hour workweek.
About the role
Support the network infrastructure for LAN/WAN services at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Responsibilities
- Coordinate work actions and collaborate with the CIT federal team and other service areas to ensure network reliability.
- Respond quickly and thoroughly to incidents, requests, and outages to maintain maximum network uptime.
- Configure and troubleshoot network gear including Cisco routers, switches, wireless access points, firewalls, and UPS devices.
- Create network and closet diagrams, decipher network topologies, and utilize network tools for diagnostics and traffic analysis.
- Maintain meticulous documentation of all work performed for review and reporting purposes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience with professional certification such as CCNA or CCNP.
- Minimum three (3) years of network administrator experience.
- Strong understanding of network protocols and switching, TCP/IP, FTP/HTTP(S), UDP, STP, VPN, etc.
- Experience troubleshooting Cisco routers, switches, NICs, LAN ports, and related network gear.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs to rack and stack network gear.
- Reliable transportation to respond to on-call emergencies within the DC-MD-VA area.
- Excellent documentation, organization, and teamwork skills, with a strong sense of responsibility and ownership.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative federal environment while ensuring security and compliance.
