Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking an enthusiastic, well-qualified individual to fill the Network Administrator (Intermediate) role to support the Central Region NETCOM. This role is critical to maintaining and supporting both classified and unclassified Department of Defense (DoD) Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs).

About the Role

This role supports the Network Team Lead in ensuring all network infrastructure operates at peak performance and availability. It involves administering, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting classified and unclassified DoD LANs and WANs.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Network Team Lead in ensuring all network infrastructure operates at peak performance and availability
  • Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot classified and unclassified DoD LANs and WANs
  • Maintain network and system performance to identify current and potential issues, recommending enhancements and upgrades to improve reliability, scalability, and efficiency
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and other network infrastructure components
  • Analyze network performance metrics, including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency, and implement performance tuning and optimization
  • Collaborate with users and technical teams to assess workflow, access, and security requirements and implement appropriate network solutions
  • Configure and manage router interfaces, routing protocols, VLANs, and network access controls
  • Implement and maintain network security controls, monitoring tools, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with DoD security requirements
  • Perform daily system and network monitoring, verifying the health and availability of hardware, servers, network devices, applications, and scheduled processes such as backups
  • Review system and application logs to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve network and system issues
  • Research, recommend, and implement innovative technologies and automation opportunities to improve network administration and operational efficiency
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce network and system standards, procedures, and documentation
  • Collaborate with vendors to troubleshoot issues, test solutions, and implement network enhancements and upgrades
  • Participate in technical meetings, provide recommendations for infrastructure improvements, and support continuous service enhancement
  • Foster a collaborative team environment by supporting fellow administrators and delivering exceptional customer service

Requirements

  • Active Secret security clearance
  • 4 years of professional experience in network administration or a related IT field
  • Experience administering enterprise Cisco and/or Juniper network environments
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, VLANs, and routing protocols
  • Experience installing, configuring, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise network infrastructure
  • Experience monitoring network performance using enterprise network management and monitoring tools
  • Knowledge of network security principles, access controls, and secure network administration best practices
  • Experience working in classified and unclassified Department of Defense (DoD) environments is preferred

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or Computer Engineering degree or degree in Mathematics or Engineering
  • Relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal education for this position
  • DOD 8570.01 IAT II certification required to start (e.g., Security+)
  • Must be able to obtain a DODM 8140.03 advanced level certification within 8 months (Advanced CASP+, CCSP, GCIA, GCED, or GCIH)

Skills

  • Experience working in classified and unclassified Department of Defense (DoD) environments
