Network Administrator - Chicago, IL

We are a managed network services provider supporting high-profile enterprise clients. We're seeking a skilled Network Administrator to join our field operations team in the greater Chicago area.

About the role

In this role, you will travel across multiple client sites within the region, serving as the on-site subject matter expert for all network and Wi-Fi infrastructure needs—from routine maintenance to critical incident response. You will work hands-on with Fortinet and Ruckus environments, ensuring enterprise-grade connectivity supports mission-critical operations, including handheld scanning systems and other business-essential devices. This is a highly visible, client-facing position where your technical expertise and professionalism will directly impact uptime and client satisfaction at each location you support. The role offers a contract-to-hire pathway with a clear trajectory toward advancement on a broader global network team.

Responsibilities

• Travel to multiple client sites within the Chicago region to deliver on-site network and Wi-Fi support, serving as the primary technical resource for each location.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues including connectivity failures, routing problems, firewall misconfigurations, and DNS irregularities using Fortinet and Ruckus equipment.
• Configure, manage, and segment LAN switch infrastructure—including VLANs—to maintain optimized, secure network performance across diverse enterprise environments.
• Support handheld scanner connectivity and other business-critical devices, minimizing downtime and ensuring uninterrupted operations for high-profile enterprise customers.
• Serve as the on-site client liaison, communicating technical findings and resolution steps clearly and professionally to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation to respond to network incidents outside of standard business hours, escalating complex issues to a global network engineering team when appropriate.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as a Network Administrator with a proven track record of managing LAN/WAN infrastructure in a multi-site or enterprise environment.
• Hands-on experience with Fortinet firewalls and security appliances, including real-world troubleshooting and configuration in production environments.
• Proficiency with LAN switching, including VLAN creation, segmentation, and inter-VLAN routing across managed switch platforms.
• Experience troubleshooting enterprise Wi-Fi environments, with specific familiarity with Ruckus wireless systems strongly preferred.
• Prior experience in a customer-facing or client-site support role, with strong professional communication skills and the ability to represent the organization with high-profile enterprise clients.
• Ability to pass a rigorous federal TSA background check as a condition of employment.

Schedule

Full-time with 24/7 on-call availability required.
