Network Administrator
About the role
This position manages and maintains infrastructure including network operating systems, firewalls, all servers (web, application, file, etc.), hypervisors, VPN, local and wide area communications equipment, network devices, and physical access control. It involves providing technical support, creating and supporting comprehensive documentation, serving as the escalation point for technical issues, administering servers, firewalls, networks, storage systems, and cloud environments, and assisting with compliance for cybersecurity standards.
Responsibilities
- Manages and maintains infrastructure including network operating systems, firewalls, all servers (web, application, file, etc.), hypervisors, VPN, local and wide area communications equipment, network devices, and physical access control.
- Provides technical support to staff, including installing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining computer hardware and software.
- Creates and supports comprehensive documentation on network configuration, network and systems modifications, network standards and related policies, data backup and recovery procedures, and mission critical software and systems.
- Serves as the escalation point for technical issues across hardware, software, and network systems.
- Administers servers, firewalls, networks, storage systems, and cloud environments to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
- Works in conjunction with, and adheres to, the recommendations and guidelines of the cybersecurity team.
- Assists with compliance for NIST 800-53, CJIS, and CIS Controls.
- Identifies improvement opportunities relating to tools, processes, procedures, installation, configuration and troubleshooting techniques.
- Installs, configures, and supports computer applications on servers and workstations using cybersecurity best practices, and principles of zero trust.
- Installs, configures, updates/supports, and troubleshoots local/wide area network devices, servers, communication devices, security devices, and other data or telecommunications network related equipment.
- Performs administrative duties including the creation of performance reports and development of network and security standards, guidelines, and procedures.
- Performs data and telecommunications network and server device installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Maintains backup schedules, verifies data integrity, ensures successful restoration processes, and validates restoration capabilities are aligned with the recovery point objective.
- Performs software and hardware updates to network, servers, and other devices.
- Participates as a member of the incident response team, and incident response scenarios.
- Provides on-call support during non-business hours.
- Manages assigned projects, and tickets, ensuring timely updates and progress.
- Affords assistance with planning and implementing new technologies, system migrations, and infrastructure improvements.
- Maintains timely communications via emails and tickets.
- Trains Town employees on desktop software and hardware.
- Collaborates with vendors, consultants, and internal stakeholders, to troubleshoot complex technical issues, budgetary items, coordinate enhancements and repairs, and manage support activities.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology or a closely related field.
- Three (3) years’ experience working as a network administrator or system administrator in a heterogeneous environment with multiple locations and more than 200 nodes\endpoints.

- Knowledge of Window’s operating systems.
- Skill in deploying major network components such as backbone routers/switches.
- Skill in server and hypervisor administration, and maintenance.
- Skill in system administration, Active Directory, and maintaining cloud environments.
- Skill in layer 1 connection technologies such as MOE and PTP wireless.
- Skill in network and system administration and practices, including traffic monitoring, patch management, VPN's, virtualization technologies, server maintenance, firewall configuration, and maintenance.
- Skill in repairing, installing and troubleshooting network hardware and software.
- Skill in the use of Cisco routers and Cisco IOS.

Benefits
The Town of Oro Valley offers a benefits program that is currently offered to employees of the Town who work 20 or more hours per week on a regular basis. (Part-time employees working at least 20 hours per week may qualify for participation in the individual plans, dependent upon the specific terms of coverage.)
Pay
Depending On Experience And Qualifications, the expected starting salary ranges from $77,944 - $87,687.
Schedule
Regular and reliable attendance; may work more than forty hours in a workweek without additional compensation to perform assigned job duties, including weekends, evenings, early morning hours, and holidays as required.
