Network Administrator

About the role

As a Tier 2 Network Administrator, you will coordinate with the Network Operations Center and other operational staff to address break-fix issues, configuration updates, scheduled add/move/changes, and technology upgrades for network routers and switches. You will support the development of technical resolution reports for critical network outages and work independently with minimal supervision, especially in remote locations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct approved network changes, including VLAN, ACL, and port assignments.
• Perform IOS upgrades on routers and switches.
• Execute routing and switching equipment technology upgrades to ensure enterprise continuity.
• Draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for network operations.
• Resolve systems failures and accessibility problems within the network.
• Support site surveys, engineering design data calls, and new/enhanced network implementations.
• Function as an independent problem solver in remote locations with minimal input from other tiers.
• Perform network ticket resolution and support ticket closure across Network Operations staff.
• Provision new switches, routers, and cryptographic devices using administrative access.
• Research errors, incidents, and problems using network administrative tools.
• Route service requests to appropriate organizations for incident resolution.
• Perform root cause analyses and complete problem resolutions for incident tickets.
• Review and implement Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).

Requirements

• TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience, Master’s degree with 3+ years, or PhD with 1+ year; an additional 4 years of experience may substitute for a degree.
• Experience with routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, VRF, MPLS, or 802.1x).
• Experience with Cisco-ISE.
• Knowledge of KG-175 Series TACLANES configuration, fault isolation, and firmware upgrades.
• Familiarity with Cisco and Juniper network devices.
• Active IAT Level II Certification.
• Active CCNA Certification.

Pay

Target salary range: $104,000 – $166,000. Salary is determined by scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, competencies, geographic location, and business/contract considerations. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
