About the role
The Energy Auditor I role at Franklin Energy involves providing expert advice and coordination for energy efficiency programs. Key responsibilities include conducting energy assessments, installing energy-saving devices, and educating customers about available rebates and programs.
Responsibilities
- Promote the energy efficiency program to customers through scheduled energy assessments
- Provide energy efficiency advice and assistance to building owners and property managers
- Complete walk-through energy assessments identifying energy-saving opportunities
- Install energy-saving devices such as lighting, thermostats, and hot water saving devices
- Explain energy assessment findings to building owners and recommend energy efficiency rebates
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the program's strategic direction and customer business activities
- Identify and document on-site opportunities for energy efficiency
- Enter data into spreadsheets and databases to determine energy savings and manage projects
- Maintain a professional appearance and build rapport with customers
- Lead presentations promoting energy efficiency programs for targeted groups
- Perform direct installations of faucet aerators and LED lamps
- Conduct inventory counts and submit reports as required
- Affirm the cleanliness and organization of warehouse locations and fleet vehicle parking areas
- Perform routine vehicle safety inspections and submit reports as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Associates degree or equivalent experience
- Experience in residential building construction, heating and air conditioning system installation, sales or service, or energy efficiency designations/certifications
- BPI Fundamentals or above
- 1-2 years of experience in marketing, community organizing, or a related field (preferred)
- Strong interpersonal, interviewing, and communication skills
- Data entry skills in Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of mathematical concepts and proficiency in using Microsoft Office

- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Position Requirements
- Education and Experience: Associates degree or equivalent experience
- Experience: One of the following: Residential building construction, Heating and Air Conditioning System install, sales or service, Other energy efficiency designations or certificates including: Advanced Home Energy Professional (HEP), Building Analyst, Envelope Professional, Residential Building Envelope Whole Hose Air Leakage Controller Installer, Heating, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump, Air sealing and building insulation experience
- Skills and Knowledge: Strong interpersonal, interviewing, and communication skills; strong data entry skills; proficient in Microsoft Office; ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; knowledge of mathematical concepts; commitment to diversity and inclusion; reliable transportation; valid driver’s license
