We are a busy, multi-disciplinary Southern NJ Neurology and Pain Management practice established in the same location for over 33 years, with a full team of physicians, nurses, and technicians.
About the role
The EMG/NCV Electrodiagnostic Technician will consult with treating physicians on study appropriateness, interpretation, and technical issues; prepare summary reports of electrophysiological data; compile representative recordings; and upload data and reports into the online medical record system. The technician will also assist with equipment maintenance, conduct quality control testing, and perform nerve conduction studies and patient preparation for needle electromyography (EMG) conducted by the physician.
Responsibilities
- Consult with treating physician about diagnostic study appropriateness, interpretation, or technical problems
- Prepare summary reports of electrophysiological data and compile representative original recordings
- Upload EMG/nerve conduction data and reports into the online medical record system
- Maintain and ensure proper function of laboratory equipment
- Conduct quality control testing of equipment as necessary
- Perform nerve conduction studies to measure muscle and nerve responses
- Prepare patients for needle electromyography (EMG) performed by the physician
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required
- Vocational or technical training in Electromyography Technician Training Program preferred
- One (1) year of experience as an EMG/NCV Technician preferred
- Highly effective verbal communication skills with both patients and physicians
- Knowledge of EMG machines
