Responsibilities

  • Gather a patient's medical history, explain testing procedures, and prepare the patient for the procedure
  • Position electrodes, apply surface electrodes, administer electrical stimulation, and record nerve responses (amplitudes, latencies)
  • Explain procedures to patients, review medical history, and ensure comfort throughout the test
  • Maintains, sanitizes, calibrates, and troubleshoots NCS equipment
  • Analyze, identify, and document procedures to maximize patient outcome
  • Afford an accurate and readable recording using deductive reasoning to troubleshoot minor problems and make adjustments as needed during the procedure
  • Aid with activities to improve department processes, facilitate testing and maintain quality to achieve optimal patient results
  • Travel to rural sites and other locations under IMS Care Center for scheduled NCS patients
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to interact with people from different backgrounds and cultures
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • ABEM Certified Nerve Conduction Technologist (CNCT) or AAET Registered Nerve Conduction Study Technologist (R.NCS.T) certification preferred
  • Minimum six months of experience working as an NCS or EMG tech in lieu of the certification is acceptable

Skills

  • Knowledge of and always follow HIPAA guidelines and secure Protected Health Information
