Nephrology Physician (Division Chief)
About the role
Join and lead an established group of 4 Nephrologists and 2 Nurse Practitioners in a 100% Nephrology practice. The role involves 60% outpatient clinic and hospital responsibilities at Bassett Medical Center and 40% regional travel to clinic and dialysis centers. Potential for Medical Directorship of dialysis units owned and operated by Bassett Healthcare Network.
Call is typically 9-10 weeks per year (Monday 8 AM – Monday 8 AM), with 30-50 follow-up dialysis patients and 10-30 follow-up transplant patients. Become part of Bassett Healthcare Network, a progressive academic health system and major teaching affiliate of Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, with potential for faculty appointment from Columbia and daily interaction with medical students, Internal Medicine, and Transitional residents.

Responsibilities
- Lead an established nephrology team of 4 Nephrologists and 2 Nurse Practitioners.
- Manage 60% outpatient clinic and hospital responsibilities at Bassett Medical Center.
- Travel 40% regionally to clinic and dialysis centers.
- Oversee 30-50 follow-up dialysis patients and 10-30 follow-up transplant patients.
- Participate in call duties (9-10 weeks per year, Monday 8 AM – Monday 8 AM).
- Engage in academic and teaching activities with medical students and residents.
- Potential to serve as Medical Director of dialysis units.
Requirements
- MD, DO, or MBBS degree.
- Board Certified in Nephrology and Hypertension.
- Leadership experience preferred.
- New York State Licensure (or eligibility to obtain).
- BLS/ACLS/PALS Certification required.
- DEA required.
Benefits
- Compensation: Salary range of $400,000 - $460,000, with potential for additional earnings through an incentive plan with no earnings cap. Medical Director stipends range from $55,000 to $85,000.
