Overview

The Department of Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is comprised of approximately 150 paid and more than 300 volunteer faculty members organized into 11 divisions covering the major medical subspecialties: Allergy, Immunology and Infectious Diseases; Cardiovascular Diseases and Hypertension; Education; Endocrinology, Metabolism and Nutrition; Gastroenterology and Hepatology; General Internal Medicine; Hematology; Medical Oncology; Nephrology; Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine; and Rheumatology.

About the Role

The Department of Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is seeking a distinguished, dynamic, and collaborative leader with a strong clinical and academic foundation to serve as its next Academic Chief of the Division of Nephrology. As the leader of the Division, the Chief will be responsible for the growth and advancement of research, faculty recruitment and development, scholarly activity, and clinical and teaching excellence.

Responsibilities

• Shape the growth of nephrology services across the RWJBarnabas/Rutgers Health System, a $5 Billion enterprise that cares for about 40% of all NJ residents.
• Expand interdisciplinary and translational research within the division.
• Build collaborative research programs, mentor junior faculty, and advance the nephrology practice on the national/international stage.
• Inspire, manage, and mentor faculty, and have a passion for providing outstanding care, improving systems and processes to maximize efficiency, and engaging faculty to develop careers.
• Demonstrate outstanding leadership, administrative skill, communication skills, clinical and research productivity, an understanding of the complexity of uniting academic and community medicine, and a creative vision to develop a superior nephrology program.
